Deed, did you happen to do a fishless cycle with that heater? 85deg? Please say yes! Lol gonna buy one today if u do:-)

Sorry, I did a fishless cycle with this heater but I did not take the temperature that high. I've never taken it over 82F.

The Eheim 2260 puts out about 450 GPH (plus/minus) using the Eheim recommended media amounts & hose lengths, at least according to the packaging. I still haven't figured out a way to get the flow meter inline yet.

I'm actually using the 2262 filter with the Hydor ETH now. I also have a lot of rock in the tank & that does help to retain some heat. Also, 3 sides of the tank are painted with a few coats of black latex paint. This might also contribute to preventing minor heat loss though I am not positive on that.

Thanks Zenn. That clears up a whole bunch. Looks like I will go with the stealth than. Any way that I can tell if it's a stealth pro or not? Looking to buy them off eBay. The pictures they have of the stealth and the stealth pro look the same. Any info would be great! Can't wait, my Fx5 should be here by Tuesday =)
Sorry for not responding sooner....you know family dinner and a big FAT hunk of prime rib,and all the fixins' makes the zennz S l e e p y...:D
The Pro lights up at the adjustment knob and the regular STEALTHs have a red knob...the Pro's are about 5 bux more from what I can tell...Just be sure to ask the seller...

I'd put a lab thermometer in the tank and check that temp...the manufacturer doesn't even claim 1/2 that gallonage...
and by not raising the temp to 85f it just takes longer to cycle, in my experience...

Alright, I contacted hydor, they said it should be fine on an Fx5! You Guys think I'll need another heater?

gonna be tough to get 85f out of an inline on your FX5, even the manufacturer rates it for 53-80gallons.

Deeda is running Ehiems which the water is flowing slower (more time in the heater) than your FX5...

you are either going to have to get a pair of submersable 250-300watt or make sure the room is as close to 85 as possible, then use a lesser amount of total watts...

The rate of heat transfer is directly proportional to the flow rate. Having alot of flow through the inline heater will not have a negative effect.

Did you mention to them it was for your 125g tank?
And if you do go inline you're gonna need to splice in a piece of vinyl tubing rather than the ribbed plastic hose, that comes with the FX5.
I guess you could put it right after the outlet valve...then go with a double male hose barb of the correct size to couple to the ribbed hose...

You'd have the;
FX5-valve-vinyl hose-heater-vinyl hose-double male hose barb coupler-ribbed plastic hose...
