Hi guys,

I currently have a 822 tank. Been using like 3x 300W heaters. Tried numerous brands and after a year or two if I am lucky, the heater fails to function.

I was told that the Titanium ones would last however risks are there. For example the thermostat might break then cook your tank? I brought this up with the LFS and they said the heater will turn off if the thermostat breaks.

Currently looking at Microbe Lift titanium 500w in addition to my 300W Eheim heater.

What are your thoughts?

I think the general consensus is to use a controller with heaters with their own thermostats set slightly higher.

Extra redundancy for peace if mind. Personally I've been using a Ranco controller with two titanium heaters for about 3 years.

Thank you for your input.

I just ordered a Microbe Lift 1000w heater and a Inkbird controller.
Hope it does the job.
