I am looking into buildind an indoor pond in my basement like the one miles built. it would be twice as deep. 8'x4'x2'deep. that brings it to around 500 gallons. how many watts worth of heaters would i need to heat it enough for tropicals?

-thanks

Nope, it just means that you won't have to worry about stuff in the tank getting messed with. Have you PMed Miles and asked his advice?

thats what i want to make.once i find a good and cheap way. lol

Basements are scarce in my part of the world.
is there even 1 in fl????? :D

i am located in illinois so everyone has a basement. it is a finished basement and it is heated. i think i am going to start with three 300 watt heaters and then a few months after i finish the pond and have a bit more money i will add more heaters. stay tuned for more updates!

Actually there was one under a mobile home here, but that was a long time ago and I lost track if it's still there.

If you can put one in the sump and two in the pond it will help even out the temp.

Make a wet/dry and under the filter put a water bed heater with insulation. set it on 86* put the insulator around the heater. AND BAM! your water will be 80-82*
