so its starting to get cold here in florida, the pond has got down into the 50s last couple of night and so far everything as lived (even the peacock bass 0.o) but i know it not good for them and they wont survive much longer. So how the hell do i heat this thing lol, I planned on just buying some heaters for like 500g aquariums but after looking the highest i can find are 125, so were do i find a heater powerful enough to heat but a 4000g pond up about 10 degrees.

A bucket heater or a big Titanium heater plugged into a Ranco Controller that can handle the wattage/amperage would be best. Check them out here: http://www.jehmco.com/html/heaters.html

Another option: http://www.heatingyourpond.com/submersible-heaters.html

You will want to make sure you don't have much else plugged into that circuit because with these high watt heaters you will likely overload the circuit pretty easily.

I would shoot for 70F. If you're at 50F now and only want to raise the temp 10 degrees, I don't think the P Bass will do well in 60F water.

Covering the pond is going to be your best bet in regards to keeping your power bill from impoverishing you. Prevent heat from escaping and your heaters will cycle on less frequently. Trying to heat 4,000G even just 10F is going to require a lot of electricity; I wouldn't be surprised if your power bill doubles or even triples.

Good luck!
