When running mulitple aquariums together to 1 sump is it best to heat each tank or heat the sump?

I just throw a heater in the sump. I like to keep the tanks clean looking.

My set up is 5 aquariums 225,65,55 & 40 all are plumbed to a 75 gallon reservior for the return I have a little giant pump rated to do 1325 gph connected to an Emperor Aquatics Pressurized bag filter. Right now for heating I have is 3 hydor heaters a 400 watt in the 225 a 300watt in the 65 and another 400 watt in the 55.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but if all the tanks are connected, then it really doesn't matter where the heaters are. It simply becomes a matter of aesthetics.

If all your tanks are suppose to be kept at the same temp, add up the total volume of the tanks and sump. Get a powerful heater and place it in the sump

Thanx guys I tend to panic sometimes. I recently had an ich outbreak due to me not quarantning a huge midas I picked up. I just need more heaters for approx. 460 gallons of water. After I made this thread I did the math & for that much water I need 1380-2300 total watts @ 3-5 watts per gallon! I only have 1100.

I was running 1,500W when I had my central setup. 415 gallons. I guess it depends on how cold your room is. My basement is kinda chilly.
