Alright, so I was poking around the LFS today, and the biggest heater they had was a 400w, and the largest marineland non-shatter was 250w. I'm trying to heat a 300(actually 280 but figured it wouldnt hurt to round up) and was wondering what the best solution would be to heat the beast. Do I really need to spend $240 to heat the tank?

I'm running an Fluval fx5 on it, and my biggest idea is running a heater with that somehow so I could heat less water at once... Does anybody know a way to do this? Or would it be too big of a hastle and i should just spend the money on 3 seperate filters?

I'd go with two 300 watt heaters if the tank is in a heated area of your house. That way if one gets stuck it won't fry your fish.

i would go with a 300watt. and keep it by the intake of the fx5. and keep a 200watt by the outlet of the fx5.

IMHO 3 250 watt heaters would do fine. Depending on stock I would get stealth heaters or ebo jager.

I bought three of these for our 300 gallon tank (11/30/05), but we only use one in our tank. The tank water stays at an even temp. even when the room temp is chilly. I think the big Hammerhead pump running our mechanical filtration might be warming up the water a little.

They were only $20 then.:):)

I would go with 2 300W heaters, Place them close to the FX5 so that the water is heated eaqualy.

Alright, I'll just go with the two heaters then and see how the temp works out.
