heating

Absolutely, as long as it will take the cold weather and not crack, we just need to know how big your pond is. You should be able to use their calculator.

You will need a bypass valve if your using your main pump for circulation as it needs to be shut off when sun isn't on it. It will act like a radiator and cool the pond w/o sun. If you use a separate circulation pump just add a dependable timer to control it.

I would use a plywood backing with a Styrofoam sheet between the panel and the wood to keep the windchill factor extraneous heat transfer down.

I build them out of PVC pipe, but it takes some work.

Good find by the way.

You'll want to go deeper than the frost line, at least on one end, with enough room for all the fish to swim.

I forgot to add (I'm in Florida, so I have to remember these things:D)...
If you have freezing conditions you'll have to be able to drain the collector too

how deep should i go and it get cold here in winter about 4*C degrees in winter and the average all year in 10*C degrees

I see your going down to about freezing this week :nilly:.

Contact a contractor (concrete/cement) or a agricultural extention office to find out what the frost line is in your area (it depends on elevation / water table / type of earth etc).

I would say go done at least 5 ft to 2 meters (I love mixing measures:D).

I wonder how that is compared to a DIY job with pvc? I was thinking of using the included pool pump for my solar heat (since I'll have it and I can't run it 24/7 anyway) but I'd need more head as I want the solar collector to be on the roof I think...

Those pumps won't handle 4ft let alone 16ft :D, use the pump on a timer for intermittent circulation for your sump.

Found the solar panels on our side of the ocean, gotta love ebay. Looks like they've got various sizes along with kits to attach them to the roof. I think this is on my list for later this fall (assuming the pool/pond happens which I'm hoping). I was thinking solar blanket/cover for the cooler months but will that kill gas exchange and suffocate my fish? I don't plan on heavy stocking...
