Heavily stunted ID shark! HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It can go either way imo...i recieved a reported 7yr old channel cat that lived in a 46gal and was 10" (guy called and told me he had a huge shark to give me) lmao!....only took him a year in my 1700 gal pool to reach 30" 10-15lbs :)

I also recieved a batch of 15yr old i.d. sharks that lived in a 10'x3' 500 gal. Their sizes ranged from 18-32". Theyve all grown since being moved to larger tanks. Most are still around 20-24" but a couple from the batch are an easy 40". The biggens live in a 4kgal. You really need a substantial volume of water/space to revert a stunted fish in most cases.

Thank you @Tbth and @Wednesday13

Very helpful points as well as links! He'll have a 1200g for a few months, then a 5000litre for 1.5-2years and then the final build which will be 16x10x5.

I'm hoping the 5000litre and the final build which is a crazy 21,000L will be big enough for my final stock plan.

The final plan is ambitious but can be done for sure.

The main purposes of these trop ponds is because I'm hoping to breed rays, pbass and hopefully get a group of black arowana and possibly get them to breed (still doing research on this one) lol

The first link said they can get 2 feet in one year. I heard they grew slow. Is it true that they are such fast growers.

I was always under the impression they did grow quick but with all the recent information. Maybe there are two different species being labelled as ID sharks. I'm getting my shark tomorrow. I'm gonna start doing some intense research on IDs and hopefully, with everyone working together we may be able to get some answers!

They can re-gain some of the growth loss, but probably not all of it depending on how stunted it is

Hmm yeah. Well, the guys bringing it too me too so I'll keep you guys informed. I'd be so psyched if it turned out to be a paroon shark and not an ID. Still be annoyed about its treatment but would be awesome to have the species.
