heavy rock in a tank.

foam on the points that tuch the bottom would help anything to spread the preasure.

Does the rock has a hole? If so what I did with my rocks was put a rope through the hole and gently lower it on to the tank bottom with me grabbing the rope loop. Get a friend to help if you need.

I guess you can get a pulley system going but that is going overboard.

im not gona do it. i picked it up like 4 times and started only to lose my nerves
 
i thought about wrapping it in a bath towel and lowering it.
 
the rock is at least 40lbs. i lift weights so i am going by that. the tank is a standard 125g. i know its 6 feet long and 18inches wide. the height i cant remember. its just an awkward position to extend my arms out and then down like that
 
I would do the egg crate suggestion to help spare the bottom glass from gouges.

Think of it this way, people with marine tanks have 5 times that in live rock in their tanks and the glass is all the same.... I can understand about the akwardness of getting it in there but it will be safe once it gets there.

ok. the rock has no holes. im going to attempt it again after i finish my meal. im going to use a towel to get it down....then lift slightly and push the towel out
