Hello and Suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
oh i thought you worked at a fish store. well then what i told you goes straight out the window. haha. one fish for a 150. managuense some big ones look ok and some are stunners. if you plan on growing them out then get a few and keep the nicest.

I was just thinking, a nice Chancho would also work alone and would look great in a 150. I also think one Dovi or Umbie wouldn't be too big. Do you have to get a large fish right away or is growing it out in the tank and option?

Unfortunately I think the boss man is set on having one fish that is already pretty big, as in 10-12+ inches. Luckily I have a very flexible budget so I hope I'll be able to get someone to part with their big guy! I was just on Jeff Rapps' site reading about Chanchos... I think that if I can get in touch with him about sourcing an adult male Chancho, this may be the way to go. These guys are like a Midas on steroids I hear, and a fish with big personality is definitely a plus! I think I'll also go and post a wtb in the classifieds forum for a large jag or chancho...see if anything turns up. This is a great help guys!

If it has to be an aggressive large cichlid - Male Texas - Escondido...............the colors are spectacular and loaded with personality.

You mentioned african cichlids............the male Malwai Trout is quite large and spectacular in coloration. You don't see either of these 2 types of fish everyday.

If your really johnny on the spot - Discus. Also if you like the pirahna look check out Pacu's. I've seen both these types used quite frequently in a business setting.

And an FYI I agree with your management 1 fish if your gonna go with large aggressive cichlids - can't be havin' customers watching fish attacking fish might upset them and that's bad for business.

I'd be a lil' leary of the Red Devils or Midas they might spend all day attacking the glass everytime someone walks by.

All I can say is a MASSIVE CATFISH! Something like a huge shovel nose or something. Give some variety. If I wanted to see a big cichlid specimen I would drive to my local dental office; your a law firm, show some gusto!

Or, go with a African Goliath Tiger. Very....interesting fish.
