my oscar is pretty lazy and floats around, will only start to swim if i approach the takn and he thinks hes being fed. then he begs for food and gets very excited. im sure your will do this too eventually.
you could house with most other cichlids green serverum etc. as long as the sizes are similar and the tank is big enough for them to have their own territory.
although you do need to upgrade, especially before adding more fish.
and unless you intend on having a large pond definately forget about the pacu!!! those things are huge and little nipping buggers that will eat and eat and eat.
as far as the growth rate i disagree that theyre slow growers, mine grew about an inch a month until they slowed down at 12".
keep on top of your water changes and check parameters as your 55 will struggle with nitrates as they are pooping machines!!!
