Hey all,
Im really really really new to this hobby and absolutly love this website...I have two aquariums and 55 gal filled with a assortment of cichlids, and a 40 gal with a 6 inch Buttikoferi which i think is the coolest fish ever...

Heres the thing...Ive had him since friday night and he still hasn't eatin anything...i put in 9 feeders with him when i put him in the tank and he didnt touch them for 48 hours so i removed them from his tank...Bought a big bag of Cichlid gold large and he still doesnt eat those...yesterday i went down to my LFS and picked him up 2 more goldfish...i woke up this morning thinking he would have ate atleast one but he didn't...:nilly:

Is it normal for them to not eat like that?? Im really worried and would hate to loose my favorite fish already...Please give me a little advice...i need it...

I can't answer your question, but try putting a different title on it. Try Buttikoferi not eating, any suggestions? This is a general discussion area, sometimes people post things that most people don't care about. Welcome and good luck.

Your Buttikoferi will eventually need a MUCH bigger tank, solo. This means no other tankmates unless its an appropriately sized tank. They are Maniac Fish Killers.

He should be fine. It takes them a while to get used to their new surroundings. He can go a few weeks without eating. When he gets hungry, he will eat.

maybe try something besides feeder fish. butti's i believe are a mollusk eater by nature. i had one once that would eat big snails like it was no tomorrow. maybe offer him a few to get him maybe wanting to eat. this might work, but as others have stated above, he/she is prolly getting used to you and it's new home.
