This is my first post on MFK but i have come across the site multiple times in the past years for info and pics. So to everyone I say hello!

My question to you stingray keepers is a pretty simple one, I have looked all over at different information about Scobina, Hystrix, and reticulated rays and everyone says different things on how big, min. tank footprint, etc... So the question I have since there seem to be quite a few ray keepers on this site is what ray (if any... I do understand as an experienced hobbyist that sometimes things just don't work in a tank...) would be possible in a 120 tank. standard 4'x2'x2'?

Thanks everyone in advance!!

im going to find out. i have a motoro comming soon for my 120

none will be able to live there for live...you could possibly start a male motoro pup and keep him in there for a short amount of time...but id say a 6x2 is absolute min

That is very true what jeffers says and the other fella... I would say a pup ray 6" or under you should be ok with a 125 for about 4-6 months depending on how fast the ray grows..... how many rays are ya planning on putting in there? you need to figure that up too bc more rays means a bigger tank for sure buddy.

Thanks for the input everyone! I only want one male. But i am not going to get a bigger tank so it sounds like I may have to cancel this thought... lol

Sounds wise. A 4x2x2 would only be enough for 6-9 months and you would need massive water changes and filtration due to the relatively low volume of water for the bio load.

lol yea. There would be no reason to harm one of these animals by trying this. Thanks everyone! Maybe somewhere later in life I will upgrade and do it!

you have the right outlook on this cody i wish more people were like you! hopefully we will see you in a couple years again with that larger tank and amazing ray on the way.
