Your 40 is severely overstocked I know you my not like to hear that and even if you move them into the 75 it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

I would try to get a 4x2x18 or best you can in that length - width, with decent filtration you should be able to get quite a few months out of it with ease then into the 220. He should get to 8-10" in there fine then they slow down a bit.

Check craiglist or what ever its called.

Dude your not doing anything by removing the raphs if thats what your thinking.. rehome all but your favirote fish or get the 220

No that's not what I'm thinking. I'm already in the process of Re homing the bass. That's just a question out of curiosity

Not trying to sound rude by any means, but I'm not stupid lol. I've been keeping fish for a while. Just mostly rainbows and smaller fish. This is my first attempt with bigger fish, I guess I just didn't fully wrap my head around just how large the bass was gonna get. But you all have put into perspective that the bass was no joke lol, that's a serious fish

No one thinks your stupid and credit to you for coming here and asking questions...but even the oscar by itself is too much for the 40 gal
