Hello MFK

Thanks everyone!

I would want the best reliable and quiet canister, fx6 maybe.
I was at the store and owner tried selling me a canister that had a built.in UV? He said fluval made parts designed to break? He showed me his show setups and they were all that brand... aquareon or something.

Ignore his sales tactics?

So I'm trying to figure out exactly what size tank will bend into my bedrom.door, hoping I can opt for the 100, if not, then the 48 by 18 by 24 tall.

Welcome !
You can't go wrong with fluval or Eheim :D
This two companies makes one of the best filters in world.

sounds Like he was maybe selling aquatop For the canisters. They are an ok product but the built in UV is too low of wattage to do anything of any significance. Any fluval 6 series canister is a good buy. 306, 406, fx6.

I love my fluvals.

Honestly, if you haven't bought the tank I would go with a drilled tank so you could set up a wet/dry filter and sump. I like the idea of not having heaters, etc in my tank plus it leaves you with so many other options. Filter material can be easily and quickly changed as opposed to breaking apart a canister. Also the biological filtration of a wet/dry is vastly superior to a canister where all beneficial bacteria is submerged. Also it makes adding something like a drip system much easier should you ever decide you don't want to do water changes anymore. However with that being said, there is nothing wrong with canisters.

I'm leaning towards canister at this point since I like glass for its scratch resistance properties haha. Maybe I could supplement the fx6 with a hang on filter.

As for algae control, do they attach to the fx6? I wanted bright lights for good plant growth but zero algae scraping.

You can definitely buy a drilled glass tank. As far as your question does what attach to the fx6? Adding a hang on is not a bad idea for surface agitation, but a fx6 is more than enough if you go with the 75.

I'm extremely biased and refuse to try any other canisters besides eheims. They were my first canisters and they are great. They are completely silent but the filter itself is pricey, and the replacement parts are pricey as well

I really tried to like them but the filters' and heaters kept breaking down on me. I have tried others and so far I am really liking the Fluval FX 6. What model do you currently own ? i've seen good reviews on the eheim 2262.

Still no tank as of yet. Browsing a few stores for a deal.

Filter, most likely fx6. What's the g6 I just saw? A little bit more money but looks more advanced... worth the extra money?
