Interesting and boring are words that you have to be careful when using u=in the fish keeping hobby. To me an African Arowana is a remarkable fish that you happen to find to be a "boring filter feeder". Yet, I would find a Piranha or any cichlid as boring as watching paint dry, yet they are not because they are all unique in their own way.
African Arowanas have developed a feeding system where they won't rely on other fishes to live. They will eat small fish, crustaceans and other small planktonic life and yet grow to pretty big sizes. They are not flashy or weird patterned but still they are one of the few monster fishes you can trust with smaller fishes.
I do have lots and lots of datnoids and they are supplied by almost every person that gets them. Rare Fish, Anthony's Tropical fish, Rare Afishinado, OC Arowana, etc, etc, etc.
As I have time available I will try to post pics of the african arowanas and any other fishes in my collection.
Regards,
Ivan
