Hey knew here and was told to say hi .... anyhow have 2 tanks so far .... yes will have more in years to come. My first was a tropical (3 yrs ago) and now I have Chiclid tank as well (1 yr now) ... although I'll have to go bigger as I'm in love with my senegal bichir ... he's in the chiclid tank for now both 30 gallons, thats why I'll need bigger. But my bichir is only 2 1/2" so far. Also have a Crazy Fish Butis in there ... that's why I joined up actually. Already left a post for feeding tips on him .... but incase I posted it in the wrong spot ... this will be my second try.

Welcome to MFK! What ugly blue pebbles you have there. Hahaha! Please forgive me. How big is that tank actually and what are the residents? You have a very interesting mix.
lol ... the ugly blue pebbles came with the established first tank ( they had so many in the tank I was able to quickly establish a second tank ) ... I currently have 2 30 gallon tanks now, plans for bigger and better though as I'm already at capacity and I know some of these will grow.
My first tank is my tropical it has - 3 dojo loaches, 2 banjo catfish, 2 garras, 2 red serpae, 2 black knife tetras, 2 african dwarf frogs, 4 algae eating shrimp, 3 zebra snails and 1 orange mexican dwarf lobster.
My second tank is my chiclid tank - 2 green terror chiclids, 1 yellow lab chiclid, 1 synodontis catfish, 1 albino rainbow shark, 1 crazy fish butis, 3 zebra snails and 1 senegal bichir.
Yes I know these will grow and plans are for more tanks as we develop our basement. This has become a new hobby for our family over the past 3 years and we are really enjoying it. The bichir has become my new fav. and looking forward to when he is full grown in a larger tank

nope he's a banjo catfish. Just got him ... should have sand and the next tank will.
welcome to mfk.. don' t let them tease you about the blue gravel.. i have plenty of tanks with it.. it is a big deal to move fish and change it just to be like everyone else.. next thing you know you will be out of style again.. great little bichir.. i like them alot myself.. i have one on blue gravel too.. he shows up great lol.....i call him my neon bichir.. nice to meet you..
Nice to meet you Red Devil, and don't worry I've got thick skin. Besides I'll never complain about something that was free .... there was so much gravel in the tank given to me, that I was able to line the second tank and get a head start on having it established, although I couldn't see myself buying blue gravel ... there's nicer things out there I've seen. The bichir I've had for almost 6 months now, and looking forward to the years to come. Although he'll still be cheaper than my dog. My only worry is that he may grow too fast ... but I've already got my mind a few possible ideas concerning tanks and sizes. But the plan is he'll eventually become the main part of my basement once its developed.
my bichir is about 10 years old.. grows slowly over those years.. i think he might be approximately 7 inches now.. they all may be different but thats mine..and he eats good and looks great just doesn't grow much... i have him with a rope fish.. and they get along great.. they have been together for all these years.. Isn't cute the way bichirs chew their food .. throw it all around.. they are fun to watch...

Hahaha! Peace out to everyone. I had a senegal bichir that grew from 11" to 17" in the mere 5 months that I had it in my tank. Be sure to have a large tank for him and he will grow exceptionally large though mine are on feeders.
