Hello

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Now I am the villain here! Hmmmmp! :irked: Hahaha! Peace out to everyone. I had a senegal bichir that grew from 11" to 17" in the mere 5 months that I had it in my tank. Be sure to have a large tank for him and he will grow exceptionally large though mine are on feeders.

no you are not the villain ... i was just saying mine did not grow much as i hoped.. glad to hear some do.. but this is my experience .. after 10 years i have to say this is his size for remainder of his life.. lol Bigger tank is always better no matter what fish it is......

No offence to Red Devil. My reply seems to have been worded the wrong way. I do know some fish do not grow as we all expect. I am just hoping for the best fr Mr. Mom's fish so s/he can plan the best. Like every monster keeper, the bigger, the better.

Mr. Mom, sorry for hacking your thread. Welcome again to MFK!

lol ... Red Devil and Naos ... nice to meet you too, and I see no hacking just introductions. Anyhow, I've only seen my Senegal Bichir eat shrimp pellets so far. He's nibbled on the shrimp brine and blood worms, but that's all I've seen. The tanks are in the kids room, so my oldest son got the enjoyment of watching my Bichir score a few ghost shrimp the other week. Where as I got to see the Crazy Fish Butis do the same and he didn't (That's my other favorite). I can for see my house one day having a tank in almost everyroom. But in the mean time, based off another thread I have on here, I'll probably be seeing another tank slightly larger in the very near future.

Well nice to meet you and i will look for you on the forums mr mom...

Well here's an update to my hello and what I have in my tanks. Picked up a 3rd tank and thinking about what fishes to move, not in a hurry to buy any new fish just yet. As well I've taken a leap of faith and am now attempting to grow plants ... it'll probably end up a fail, but my fingers are crossed. As always open to any and all advice.

This is our first tank. 30 gallons, currently houses 3 dojo loaches, 3 black knife tetras, 2 red serpae, 2 garra, 2 banjo catfish, 1 rainbow fish, 1 small red tail shark, 1 small synodontis, 2 african dwarf frogs, 4 algae eating shrimp and 1 orange mexican dwarf lobster

This is our second tank. 30 gallons, currently houses 1 Senegal Bichir (4 1/2" now), 2 Green Terror, 1 Mystery Chiclid, 1 yellow lab chiclid and 1 small synodontis. There's also 3 albino tetras that I'm kinda doing an experiment with right now.

and my latest tank. Took a step up to a 55 Gallon this time, currently houses my Large Synodontis Ocellifer (5-6") and 1 Albino Rainbow Shark (4 1/2") a few plants I know nothing about really ... they're more root than anything. After soon reading and such, took a stab at trying to get some to attach to the driftwood, the rest I planted. I'm giving myself a 30-40% chance of success with them. Still need to pick up a hood and light for the new tank.

The first tank has some kind of lace plant I know nothing about. The plants all came with one of the chucks of driftwood.
