Hello I am new to this site. I love Cichlids. I currently have an Albino Tiger Oscar, a Jaguar, a Green Terror, a Jack Dempsy and a Firemouth. Also in the tank are 2 Spotted Puffers and some molly's and fancy tail guppies that keep giving birth( Baby Food for my tank). I am looking to upgrade to at least a 180 gallon or larger. Any one out there got a spare for gift, trade, or sale.:help2:

ohhh i don't know about that depending on the filtration mollys and guppys will all get eaten but in a 180 they could be okay the puffers won't but mabye they could stay in the tank there in now?

I hope you get a good deal on a ]v[onster tank, check out the mfk marketplace - lots of great deals all the time, don't forget craigslist and classifieds. Don't let the tank size police scare you away, it's great that you're getting a 180 or more.

Your best bet is to just keep a close eye on your local classifieds. People who are moving tend to unload big tanks for next to nothing. Best I saw - a 125 with overflows and a sump, stand and lighting included AND a 75 with Stand, Lights, and Filter. Get this for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I called at 7 AM the day the ad came out and I was already too late. :-)

A 180 not big enough for those fish? I mean obviously it's not "ideal" but what are we measuring against? Nature? If that was the case than we should be stocking 300 gallon tanks with one guppy. A 180 should be more than fine with good filtration and frequent (at least once a week), large (50% or more) water changes. But you should be doing that anyway!

Oh except for the puffers. They should be brackish or full salt, and eventually one of your cichlids will probably try to eat them, at which time they will inflate killing BOTH fish. But hey get a 180, move the cichlids and leave the puffers in whatever tank they are all in now.
