I guess this is to be introduced... well... I got into fish when my roommate started keeping fish my sophomore year in college. I started with a 30 gallon tank and now have a 120g with 2 platinum gouramis, 6 dwarf gouramis, 2 pearl guarmis, 1 gold guarmi, 2 albino angelfish, 2 gold veil angelfish, 2 black veil angelfish, 1 black ghost knifefish, 3 adult swordfish, a dozen baby swordtails, 13 Siamese algae eaters, 1 pleco, 2 rainbow sharks, 2 red tail sharks, 2 bala sharks, 1 female beta and 1 male beta.

I've had my tank up since December of 2006 and haven't had any problems yet. working on getting a co2 setup but as I can't afford it yet, am using decomposing peat moss to provide some co2 for my live plants.

When I've finished school and my wife and I build a house, I would like to build somewhere between a 300-500 gallon marine tank into the house. As soon as I can afford it, I will turn my 120 gallon into a marine tank as well.

Looking forward to chatting with people who also have interest in fish tanks.

Welcome to MFK....get those first 5 posts out of the way and show us a picture of that beast.

Welcome! Your marine tank plans sound great, but be sure and explore the wonderful world of freshwater as well:)

forgot, filtration... I'm running two Rena XP3's. One set up for biological filtration and the other set up for chemical filtration. I have 1 300 watt heater and a 48" dual strip fluorescent light.

absolutely... I like my freshwater tank. But, I spent a year in Micronesia, and got hooked on saltwater fish. Ultimately, when I get that 300-500 saltwater, I will have my 120 set up as a freshwater elsewhere in the house.

I just noticed, my black ghost decides to come out and prowl around at night... it's nearly midnight and I was watching the tank a little. not usually up this late and I have my lights on an auto timer. haven't had any fish disappear since I got him... hopefully that will remain the case especially with my SAE's...

If anyone has any suggestions for algae control that would be great... even with the 13 SAE's in there, I have problems and I haven't even gotten a co2 setup on the tank yet...

Welcome to MFK...well I guess most of us started with a small tank and I don't want to say eneded cause it dosen't end lol the word is continued to get bigger tanks and a lot as long as the space and budget can accomodate hehehe.
