HELLPPPP whats wrong with my fish.

I just picked up some kind of cichlid from a lady on craigs list and in the bucket that he is in he is flipping around all crazy and rolling over on its tummy. if he stays still he floats around uncontrollably.ill try to post a pick of him in a sec. What should it do?

i didnt know there was such thing as a short bodied jack dempsy. what size tank was he in before.

he is only about 4 inches long but really fat

I have been reading around does he have gas?

it might be gas or swim bladder problem do some research if there is such thing as a sort bodied jack dempsy because to me he is deformed or didnt grow right.
