Help! 5" Motoro Stingray upside down! Iradic behavior!! Help!

Update: I just checked on her....and she is still swimming somewhat irradically up to the top & then flailing downward ;-( As she just swam to top, I noticed a small red dot/discoloration under her skin on left side underbelly, near her gill. Dont know if she hurt herself or if that was already there. ALSO NOTICED a blueish color on her middle underbelly... dont know if thats normal...or signs of some kind of blockage where the blue is. ;-( Does this sound normal?

Bad news...it is the Ammonia!! My pro-fishkeeper husband (Knobhill) has been at work & I just did test. Ammonia spiked to 3.0 harmful ;-( OH NO.. I dont know if I will be able to do a water change without him, have never done it before. If I dont, i fear the water will worsen.
He will not be home for 8 hours...so Im going to do it now.
The baby ray seems to be hanging in there, but I can only imagine the ammonia level before the water change. I remember, there was Arowana food in there before he changed it yesterday, as the Aro has been a very finicky eater since we moved him in this new tank. ;-(

if you have another tank that is established, try taking some media from the filter or a filter from that tank to put on this tank.

Mrs. Knobhill here...ive just made my 1st (emergency) water change, as my husband is away on business. Thankyou for all your help. Going to hope for the best & a full recovery of the little Motoro girl. She is still swimming up & then falling all about but less & less. So im hoping she is calming down & will recover. These next few hours will be important ones.
ps. I put two capfuls of Prime in water, and used Tap water instead of usual RO water.

I would dose with Prime for whatever size the whole tank is, it will help reduce the effect of the ammonia. Also add two or three teaspoons of whatever salt you happen to have available, it will help if there is nitrIte in the water (or nitrIte develops).
My guess is that the RO water's low buffering capacity led to a major pH drop, causing the biofilter to slow down and leading to the ammonia spike.
Changing with regular tap water should begin to revive the biofilter and obviously you need to stay on top of water changes to keep the ammonia and nitrIte levels as low as possible.

As others has pointed out, prime has an emergency dosage direction on the back to fight ammonia spikes. Do give that a try.
Personally i'd do daily small water changes until everything is back on track. Possibly even 2 a day if i had time
