Help! 5" Motoro Stingray upside down! Iradic behavior!! Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi all,
Mr. Knobhill here. I discovered the ammonia was due to overfeeding and leftover food polluting the water. Filtration is a built-in wet/dry filter and 3 sponge filters. Also added some ammochips into the filter and got a nifty ammonia alert by seachem. I am happy to report the ammonia level is in the safe range. The Rays are eating frozen bw (fed sparingly) and are coming around. After many water changes the rays are looking a lot happier.
FYI--I do add RO right to the RO water. Our city water isn't the best. However, I have changed the mix to 50% RO and 50% tap, age it in a 55g drum with an airstone running continuously, and still treat it with prime.

Thanks all for your help and to Mrs. Knobhill for performing some emergency h2o changes!

The 50/50 mix should be better but I'm relatively confident rays don't get a choice of water in their natural rivers and I'm pretty sure those rivers are dirtier than most city water supplies even in the US ;)

good news! My friend that had the EXACT problem of left over food, was not as lucky as you. Glad the problem was corrected.

I think i would agree with pete, you dont need RO
