I am about a month in and I have started my first ever tank, at the moment I only have zebra danios and what I think are Chinese Algie eaters. This weekend I am thinking of getting a pair of clown loaches as I found a few snails.

Sounds like your doing OK Chris , try not to overload your stock to quickly as your setups new and your tank needs to complete cyling , beneficial bacteria needs to build up gradually in your filter to create a balanced happy tank , adding too many fish too quickly will produce an ammonia spike crashing your bacteria.
Don't worry too much about snails unless you've got plants and there breeding out of control , if they are you can always add an assasin snail (they kill off all others )
World of water in timperly (near me ) has always got good stock and solid advice if your looking to venture out on a fish shop ;):D
The abyis in Stockport's also good for community fish , a little pricey but healthy stock

What size tank is your first baby? You never forget your first

Looks like an SAE to me. Siamese Algae Eater Crossocheilus oblongus

Here some info i found may help you
http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php/65103-Crossocheilus-siamensis-(Common-name-–-Siamese-Algae-Eater)-()
They are similar, but you'll notice that the true Siamese algae eaters have slightly smaller and typically more pointed heads, as well as having the black line extend through the caudal fin (whereas the line stops at the end of the caudal penduncle in Garra cambodgiensis).

I would also say that the photo provided in the link for Crossocheilus oblongus has been misidentified. That'd be Garra cambodgiensis, as well.
