HELP!!!! Air Bubble in polypterus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok thanks guys lol it's really hard to laugh when you have a best friend (forever alone) dying right next to you in a tank but he seems to be getting better and able to catch his balance. And about the massivore i've never heard that lol i've been feeding them a huge bag of it for about 7 months........... didn't know it had an expiration date..... lol

I buy the 13 ounce bags and they usually last me about a month. I don't like feeding any food older than a couple of months. I also keep my massivore in an airtight tupperware too

All jokes aside, he'll most likely fart it out soon enough.
There was an article in the Polypterus magazine here a while back about how quick and easy fish food can go off (especially Hikari) and it's known to cause gas.
The article reccomends not using Hikari carnivore or massivore that has been opened for more than a month!

do you dispose of your hikiri after a month?

I buy Massivore by the kilo. It lasts me about 3 months, in a Tuperware container. I have never had any issues and have never noticed the smell change that would indicate it has gone sour. Hope your fish farts soon. I am pretty sure that is all you are dealing with.

he still alive and doin well he still has a bit of an air bubble, but not nearly as much as yesterday.

thanks guys for all the help he (actually i'm pretty sure it's a she) has "farted" and is doing just fine. I just put him/her back in the main tank and they're swimming around and already adding more life to the tank. I really appreciate everyones help :)

lol ikr the second i saw him like that my heart dropped, lol now that i look at them he/she looks like they've lost a lot of girth from even before the air bubble

well lol he's back to the top again............. i'm gonna wait it out this time.

Young bichirs usually float on the top of the tank, sometimes in an odd angle. I thought mine had bloat too but it turned to be ok.
