Do you guys have any idea how i can get rid of the algae growing in my tank?! I'm housing a flowerhorn in my tank and he is very aggressive so a pleco would not work. can someone please help me out?! :irked:

I had the exact same problem about a 2 months ago. Get a UV filter it'll make it crystal clear in 5 days.

You can add some floating plants to starve the algae of nutrients and lower the amount of day light time lights are on if its set close to a window and can't be move get some black curtains theres alot you can do to control algae those are a few suggestions but it would help if there were more details about your situation everything you can think of from ph to food to lights to water type used

I was thinking of adding a UV filter. I keep the lights on for most of the day time so about 7 hours a day. The tank isn't in direct sunlight so I don't think that's the problem. Can UV filters have any negative effect on my flowerhorn? Sorry noob here!

Mine has been running for over 2 months and my fish don't seem bothered by it.

I used to have the same problem bro. You're leaving your lights on too long. Best way to keep your algae problem to a minimum is to only turn on you're light while you're looking at your tank or do what I did. My solution for green water.... I added 4 new aquatop cf500UV canister filters along with my 2 old fx5. Worked perfectly. My solution for hard stubborn algae is in the video I posted up. I hope this helps you.
