Help! Ammonia spike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks - I'll check. I only have a freshwater testing kick for nitrites but I don't believe it matters. Lost the red scat this morning. I know have a red and two green scats - only about 4 inches long each - a large Dat and to shark cats. They look fine and my ammonia readings are near zero finally.

that is GOOD news.. mini-cycle(bad one) by the sounds of it....keep up the water changes ..and get and keep prime on hand (it really can help):)

Sorry you had these issues. It happened to me as well and it felt horrible.

I feel for you, I had the same thing happen to me. Came home one day and both of my 90 gallon tanks were cloud white so bad that you couldn't even see in the tanks. I lost almost everything, my 13" male Texas, My 12" M-F pair of Vieja Synsplilum, my 23 year old Synodontis Eruptus, an 8" silver dollar (had 2 one made it and still have it). My 2 pictus cats and 2 bumble cats survived and that's it, lost my clown loaches as well. It's a sickening feeling, 2 months later now and everything is back on track with a new Texas and new Synspilum and a few new others. Never did figure out what happened, I've been doing this forever and never experienced anything like it.
