help anchor worms ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update decided to give the tetra parasite guard a try. Figured it could not hurt anymore than watching them die from being eaten by parasites. Lost another 2 of my biggest clowns so that pushed me try. Why is it the biggest ones go first? the microbe lift stuff did not seem to help at all, seemed to be more anchor worms on fish. Hope for better results with the parasite guard. A lot of people say dimilin and the parasite guard has the avctive ingredient diflubenzuron that's in dimilin.

How are they looking? Parasite guard has the same ingredient diflubenzurone. Dimlin is no longer sold. Just dimlin X which has a new active ingredient. Assuming it's just as effective. I stocked up on the old formula right after it was discontinued. Parasite guard just costs so much to treat large tanks. I just buy praziquanitel and diflubenzurone in individual form to save cash.

Update some fish are starting to look more active , began eating. Have not had a clown die in 2 days. On the other hand my big fire eel ,is still having trouble eating and not looking good, still very worried about him. Tomorrow they get second dose with water change. Sure hope I can beat this, thanks for your response.

Since you're treating scale less fish they can be sensitive to meds. With Parasite guard, you've got a big cocktail of meds going in there. Are you using full strength?

My wildcaught natives had anchor worms to make matters worse I had an ich outbreak in the tank shortly after adding them.

I dosed melafix for wounds - dosed that blue ich medicine and manually caught each fish with a net and removed worms with a tweezers.

I ordered anchor worm meds offline, by the time the shipment arrived everything cleared up and the fish were swimming around happy.

Some sort of stress or wound med may help

I wish I could. Have you ever tried to catch a 34 inch eel before? Just to catch him is one thing, can not imagine trying to hold him. probably have to do more than once to get them all. I noticed a improvement yesterday. Eel started eating 4 worms, also seeing less anchor worms on fish. Meds must be starting to work. Hope so anyway.
