Are you absolutely sure?
I am very sure.. what your fish has is early symptoms that will progress to larger growths. there are several types and variations of this viral infection. Your bass is showing clear signs of it. Many fish including bass are natural carriers of this virus but it rarely shows up. It will often express it's self when the fish is under extreme duress (I.E. environmental or physical stress) or in poor water conditions.

A salt bath in my opinion would not be a bad thing at all and could be therapeutic. This is worth a try.

The patches have disappeared. I noticed that this morning…but there are markings where they used to be. I will be picking up some marine salt tomorrow to begin treatment. Can anyone give me a good ratio (amount of salt per gallon), that they have used which did not kill the freshwater fish?

one tablespoon per 5 gallons should do..

your LMB should do fine with the heater, but its not needed. check water paramaters sometimes low ph will eat at the slime coat. do daily water changes until he looks better. check the ph of the water you use to fill it as well (my tap water had a 7.2ph and then i was filling with a hose and the nosel thingy was dropping the ph down to like 6.4)

OH SO THATS WHAT IT IS!! I had an oscar that got lymphocytis. I euthanized him.

That is usually how it ends.. Looks like or at least I hope this case was nipped long before advancing. Which is a very good thing.

How is the LMB doing anyhow?
