  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I assure you that the pike characin will never be able to co-habit with the musky no matter what size aquarium they have. It's going to get killed.

exactly. Musky - almost 6 feet and 60 pounds full grown, with the ability to eat fish like 35 pound carp.

Your right, but still, Tiger musky will become a huge fish nonetheless. And are torpedo shaped predators.

Personally, I always feel sorry for really, truly large torpedo shaped predators kept in all but the largest aquariums - you know the really big tanks.

A quick search turned up 50 inch 30 pound plus animals on the web.

How do you keep an fish like that with anything? Isn't everything on the menu at that point? :)

Yeah, hybrid or not, they are apex in their waters.

BTW the signs your "Gar" is expressing are aggression or dominance.. not friendly behavior. As already stated.. one day the Musky will get annoyed with this and eat your "Gar" .. Tossing around scientific names btw doesn't mean you know a wit about what your species needs. What you should do is Google the scientific name.. and realize your fish will soon become lunch for your other fish, and not just take all the good advise you're being offered.

Well at this point.... The "gar" is growing faster than the musky and picking on him a bit. so until the tables turn I'll be fine. And everyone knows fish grow a lot larger in the wild than in captivity... so until i reach the point where they are too big to keep, im going to keep them.

Soon I will post a video so you can see how they interact.... the bullying has pretty much stopped since i removed the puffer as well... I think he was throwing off the balance.

In terms of where i bought it.... I'm from minnesota and they sell them in some of our lfs. Lots of natives like large mouth, small mouth, perch, sunnies, blue gill, northerns, muskies, tiger muskies, walleye.... blahhhh you name it, you can find it if its native.
