HAAAAAA!! I love it! BTW, KaiserSousay speaks the truth. I didn't buy it either (from him or bitteraspects) when I asked this same question a few months back, but I learned the error of my ways. Evidence: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289643 I have been an overflow believer ever since. I spent a bunch of unnecessary cash on float switches, multiple pumps/powerheads, etc & wasted a bunch of time getting everything adjusted just right. I thought I had proved them all wrong! It worked great for about 14 hours. Then I started hearing the pumps turning on/off/on/off/on/off... Turns out I had only succeeded in building an electronic waterhammer & pissing off my Loaches. I switched to PVC overflows & used the extra pump for one of my other tanks. I used the powerheads for several other things & I have had zero issues ever since.

"basically can it be done or not?"

Yes but not basically, the flow rates would need to be electroniclly monitored and controlled.

"will the gph even out?"

No. Even if they are the same pump, there will be differences. Then there is different Head height and debri to consider.

"even though its not exactly the same?"

Kinda answered your own question there...
