It was sticking well the first time but when i moved it to the tank the bond broke. Trying again have roughed up the underside of the wood for it to bond to seems to be sticking only slight movement. If you can silicone rocks together and to the tank why not wood?

try sanding it smooth first then rubbing silcon onto the wood let dry for at least a day then silicon in

fraser how does that make a difference as there will still be a bond of silicone to wood, it will be wood with silicone attached to silicone. What is the difference between your bond and the one im trying at the moment.

this i just took from the diy section written by wyldfya

You could do that with aquarium silicone, but it would have to be dry, and have enough time to cure. Or you can cut the wood to get a flat surface, and use aquarium silicone to attach it to a piece of slate.

here he says you can attach wood using silicone to slate so why cant it be done to glass, dont say because is smoother because we all know silicone is meant for attaching glass so i see no problem with my plan, except it aint working yet. But in all evidence and theory it should work yes?

Try underwater epoxy instead, it is made mainly to construct artificial reefs in SW tanks, Two little fishies makes some as do several other manufacturers. Also you can check www.marinedepot.com for reef glue (like tank safe superglue) and epoxy resins, they carry several types. All of these form a hard, permanant bond and will work on most surfaces including wood.

it worked for your information took a load of silicone but it worked.

if it doesnt hold, have u thought about using suction cups, i used them to hold up/ balance a BF piece of driftwood in my rhom tank

The way I would it would be to cut a thin piece of plexi glass and drill some holes in it. attach the plexi glass to the wood with small stainless screws and then silicone to the glass making sure to silicone the heads of the screws as well

Drill holes into the wood, then silicone some glass to the wood. The silicone in the glass may help it from ripping off. Then silicone the glass to the tank wall. Let it cure for 3 days or so.
