wound debridement is also useful, no need of blade or Metzenbaum :)
just cover your bichir with soak cloth then gently rub the wound with gauze to remove devitalized tissue and apply small amount of betadine soln.
DON'T DO THIS TO A GILL cause it's very sensitive and i don't know effect

I did this to one of my gourami after failed with ATB in Hospital tank and it's work

PS. Always wash your hands after contact with infected wound.
 
OK, well debridement is too much like my old job, and Edgar is doing better. No longer bulging, so I think he got rid of the stone. Added some salt to the water, and some melafix, and he's much happier - very active, not hanign out in his cave, etc. Wound is smaller, not reddish anymore, and appears to be healing fine. I'll keep up with the melafix for the week (8 days total) and swap the gravel out for sand after work today or tomorrow.
