I will make sure and keep the tank lights off with thte next one, I really do not honestly know what happened , me and my wife went out to go fishing around 2 and he was acting fine then but when we came home he was just not acting like himself sinking and then just passed away, only thing I can come up with is he had to of jumped or something spooked him and ramed the glass ...

One day I will get another or I might try to get a silver..

sorry about your lost

for the next time, that little guy just be scared of something, if your tank have any light, turn it off...and your tank setup must have top cover

mine was like that, it really scared when each time i opened the hood or turn on the light, then my little guy will swam down to the bottom and sit the quietly until i closed the hood and turn off the light

sorry for your loss...floating plants do help the aro feel more relxaed that goes for all aros...reduced light for the first week or soof haveing it also helps it feel comvertible....i have seen baby aros jump well over a foot out of the water, witch says alot for a 3" fish, so the lower water isn't going to help much...i always leave a few inches off the top...as they like to take a breath from time to time...

sorry to see you lost it, youre right in thinking larger blacks are easier to keep then the babies- but if you do get a baby again, how turbulent was the surface of the tank? I think it was said that the tank was well aerated, which is good, but with aeration comes moving water, and the notoriously weak baby blacks seem to get exhausted easy in any movement of the water
