Hello Everyone,

I did a search of the forum, but found no direct results, so, on with my post.

In Canada at present, it is my understanding that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has currently put a damper on import(for sales purposes) of all Hikari food products.

Now at the moment, I have been out of Hikari for about a month, and I know many fellow fishkeepers in the same boat. I need to find good/reputable online sources that have Hikari Foods and will ship to Canada for a price that is not outrageous!

If any Americans can offer any assitance or suggestions to us Canadians stuck in this boat, I'd be greatful!

Thank-you!

Chris

Hmm a black market for Hikari pellets.... Im seeing $$$$ signs here.... JK

Its just the hikari from china isn't being allowed in (mostly frozen items). Wait until hikari distributors switch to importing from japan.

Even if an american company shipped it to us, they'd be turned back at customs.

My understanding was that this primarily affected frozen foods, and not just Hikari. Companies must get a permit/testing to import.

My neighbour works for CFIA, the importation permit has been neccasary for a while now. It just took time for them to work there way down to the aquarium industry as dog and cat food was a priority.

All the import permit requires is a random check by the cfia. China doesn't want to issue a visa to a canadian inspector herein lies the problem.

Most hikari dried foods come from japan hence the availability.

Easy solution, available at any supermarket. All you need is a cutting board and a sharp knife and badda boom badda bing, you got your own home made fish food.
