 My carpet anemone ate my Falco Hawkfish and my Clown Goby.. Is this common?? Everything has been fine for over 4 months and all of a sudden it's eating my fish. The Anemone eats half a shrimp about twice a week. It's about the size as a dessert plate. Should I avoid buying fish that perch and just stick with fish that swim?? I would like to get more fish that perch because they are fun to watch, but if this will just keep happening then something will have to give.

Your fish probably tried to steal what they thought was food out of it. Gobies are never a good idea with any type of anemone, they like to sit on everything. I'm surprised it took 4 months for it to eat one of your fish.

Yeah, My Goby I was more surprised about because it usually perched on the same rock all the time. I guess he decided to venture out and it cost him his life. So what do you guys think, either get rif of the anemone or no more fish that perch, I also have a Lawnmower Blenny, but so far he doesn't even go close to the anemone.

Yep, carpets eat fish. My tube anemone has eaten about $500 worth of fish, including a Rhinopias. :(

This is very common. Your blenny is probably on the menu as well. Anemones of all kinds eat fish, its what they do. Strong swimmers are safer, but nothing is totally safe.

sorry man, thats a bummer.

I knew it was a possibility, I figured if I kept it well fed, everything would be fine. I read that they are not sticky unless they are hungry, but apparently this is not the case. I think I will be getting rid of it in the near future.

yes, that is definately not the case. Sticky is a sign of health, not hunger. They will always attempt to feed, even if stuffed fat. I can feed mine 3 or 4 days in a row and it will always try and get it down. It won't get much out of the last feeding (poop out whole chunks of fish) but it will still eat.

That is interesting, I never knew that about carpets.
I had a bubble tip once and he didn't eat any fish, and I had "perching" fish, but he did die one weekend when I was out of town for two days and ended up killing my entire tank.

Dang, sorry for your loss, but now you know better. Nems will eat (or try to eat) anything that really falls on/in them...or comes into contact with them.
