HELP! Chip or Crack in brand new tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would hope for an exchange, if the tank is brand new and not used they should accommodate you. They don't want the bad word of mouth and should want you to buy all your fish products there.
Good luck and don't wait

I fail to see how they can possibly think that you did it yourself with it being on the inside of the tank. Ask them politely to change it or give you a refund. It's surprising the lengths some companies will go to in order to avoid negative feed-back.

I agree with the others, dont fill that tank. If there had been damage to the outside of the glass then sure, I could see them arguing you caused it, but if it is just internal then it is a manufacturing defect. Hopefully they wont give you too hard of a time. If they do, I'd remind them that a bit of bad publicity or reviews can do some damage to a reputation.

You all are not going to believe this, but it turns out that it's not a chip or crack. It was stray silicone. As it turns out, it's pretty hard to tell the difference between surface silicone and a chip in the glass with your finger. I talked to the guy and he said if it was a chip, it would be clear. If it was a crack, it probably would travel in a relatively straight line. He was nice about it, and he made good points. I didn't want to believe I could be that stupid, but I got home and scrapped it off with a razor blade.

Crisis averted. Carry on. Thanks for all the concern!
