The tank is 100 gallons. I will look into the Hydors a little more then before I buy the maxi jets. I was going to get 2 Maxi jets for now and then maybe another one later if I needed. Thanks for all the advice.

Oh wow, yeah, two maxijets aren't NEARLY enough if you are going to keep fish in a 100g. Two 1200s is 590gph max and that's only 5.9 times per hour turnover plus whatever other filtration you're going to have on there.
If you're going to have a lot of other filtration adding to the turnover rate then it's not as big of a deal, but not the best choice IMO.

Think about it this way, in SW 10 times per hour is considered LOW turnover, whereas in FW it would be pretty good. Last thing you want to skimp on in a SW tank is circulation.

Well actually now I looked more into Hydors and since im not keeping reef I think they may be a good choice. I was going to get the Hydor 3 which is 850ghp and the Hydor 2 which is 600gph. Also I have a cascade 100 which is over 200 and a JBJ Reaction 4 stage which is 250 or around there. Once my tank is cycled and I am getting some more money I might get another powerhead. Also my protein skimmer is like 250 or around there but it doesnt really add because the return flows through some filtration and into a box so no micro bubbles form. Thank you for the help.

Great info in this thread..

Turnover rate is very important in saltwater because of ammonia break down.. Ammonia is super lethal in saltwater because of the higher pH, so you need to make sure you have alot of current, no dead zones, and turnover rate..
