cloudy white = bacterial bloom
cloudy green = algea bloom

either way best bet is to decrease feeding alittle to cut off source of food to both. if its green then less light will also help

Its not a algae problem, No green at all.

Its a cloudy white.

I forgot to mention that I have recently taken out a undergravel filter, could that have messed up the benificial bacteria?

as long as your FX5 is still going then you still got good BB.

I only change half of it at a time for that reason :P

Also I changed it after it became cloudy

You should never change your bio media. It sounds like that may be your problem.

I had 2 XP3s and 2 Emperor 400s on my 125. I set up another tank and moved one of the XP3s to that tank. My 125 got pretty cloudy about a week later. I didn't realize that the XP3 I moved had a lot of Seachem Matrix in it, and the XP3 I left on the 125 didn't have much Matrix in it. I added a bunch more Matrix to the XP3 on the 125, and about 2 weeks later, no more cloudy water.

Have you got some fine polishing pads in there, this is the only thing that stopped my tank clouding after water changes, best if you change them quite regular too.

yep..

Just re-establishing itself.. cut back feeding and add more filtration.

its a bacterial bloom. like everyone else has said, cut down on feedings (feed once a day), keep up with the waterchanges, and i would test your water parameters to see if you are having a mini cycle.. just to see whats going on in the tank.

if it doesnt clear up, i would get another filter on it-as the fish grow, they produce more waste and that may also be a factor.. best of luck to ya!
