I just got 5 clown loaches today. They were fine in my 20long earlier but I noticed one looked like he was dead on the sand substrate and now all the others are to and they are swimming out if control and floating around. They only started doing this when 1 of them did it. I know they are known to play dead but I am concerned.

How did you acclamate them? What are your water parameters ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Ph, hardness and temerature? Can you get the parameters from where you got them as a comparasion?

My 2 small peacock bass I am growing out are fine and have always been fine in this tank. I can't get the exact parameters cause I need a new test kit. I let the bag they came sit with them in the tank for 30min that's what my lfs has always said to do.

The P bass are accostomed to the water in your tank the loaches are not. Floating the bag for thirty mins will equalize the temerature but if you don't slowly mix tank water with the water they are in the differance in parameters can kill them. The Ph must be balanced and a slow acclamation process of introducing tank water with their water will allow them to gradually get used to the differance, if they are not acclamated correctly what you are seeing is usually the result.

That can be an expensive lesson to learn. You have a moble go back to the store and ask them why they didn't explaine to you what I wrote and ask for a refund or new fish.

I just took a water sample up there and took the fish back the guy told me to bring in a water sample from the tank they were in and the fish so I did. Water tested perfect he said and he said he was sorry he said that floating was fine but I'm going to start dripping them in the proper way. Really sad my clowns died but they gave me my money back and and extra $20 so think I am going to wait awhile to get another fish. I feel so bad that this happened though
