help cons spawned

my cons just layed eggs. how do i know if they are good. what color should they be. how long till they hatch. this is the first time ive had cichlids at all and my first spawn. they might have spawned b4 but not for me. i had found a good post about cons but i couldnt find it again. i have them in a 20 g long. right now i have a 40 open i just complety cleaned it out should i leave them in the 20 till they eggs hatch or could i move them over to the 40.theyre in the 20 with two other males. so i have 4 cons in the 20 right now. im trying to give the other two males away though

Don't move them until the eggs hatch. If the eggs don't hatch, don't worry... that happens to a lot of cichlid species on their first batch. Convicts breed like crazy so I wouldn't worry too much if this batch doesn't make it. The only fish I would move would be the other two males... they will probably get killed by that breeding pair in a 20 gallon.

i agree with frazzlerock5. i have 2 breeding pairs in a 120g and they breed like crazy...so dont worry about the first batch.

i have all the males sectioned off and the female went to the one male. i thought i had 2m/2f it ended up being 3m/1f but 2 are 5inch or so and the other 2 are 3inchs or so. i made spots inthe eggcrate so the smaller cons can get through they can go everywhere. i also have two bn in there now also. heres a pic maybe you can see what i mean
