Um... that what they eat in the wild... soft over-riped fruits. Some people keep them on baby food made of fruit mixed with calcium powder.
They don't "need" the CGD, but it is good for them though. They do need a good balance between protein (insects) and fruit pureé. The CGD offers all that without the crickets, however there is nothing wrong with baby food as long you give them the protein and calcium they need.
