HELP crested gecko not eating

they were being fed this nasty looking soft baby food stuff. lol. i will try the bottle idea. i also mist 3x a day. the substrate is jungle bedding. i looks like mulch. i might pic up some peat moss at my work tomarrow. i have some pillow moss in there as well, however its not growing.

Um... that what they eat in the wild... soft over-riped fruits. Some people keep them on baby food made of fruit mixed with calcium powder.

They don't "need" the CGD, but it is good for them though. They do need a good balance between protein (insects) and fruit pureé. The CGD offers all that without the crickets, however there is nothing wrong with baby food as long you give them the protein and calcium they need.

I disagree. Using insects and fruit puree can normally make them malnourished(sp). I have talked to many reputable breeders and they all use CGD. They dont need insects at all when being fed CGD. You can give them some as a treat every few weeks though.

Every reputable breeders I know give them crickets three time a week, use baby food mixed with calcium powder; they used this for the past 10-15 years. They don't look malnourished to me at all. The only ones I am aware of that use CGD are the new guys that started with them in the past 5 years.

Also, you need to gutload your insects, however that is in itself a given with any insectivorous herptiles in captivity.

You have to remember what they eat in the wild...

As with any newly acquired animals, you have to keep feeding them what they were fed before you purchased them. If you want to feed them a certain/different food item, you'll have to slowly weened them onto it, it goes the same with fishes, birds, etc.
