Hello MFK

Used 180g eurobraced acrylic tank with SIX bottom drilled holes...
For a slightly planted tank w/ fish @ 3/4 full (above red line),
Which filtration setup makes the most sense:

1. 2-3 overflow durso standpipes into a 60gal wet/dry.. + maybe small canister filter

2. TWO X-LG Canister filters (thus sealing all holes on base)

3. You tell me

Any help's appreciated, thanks!

Not sure..HOW ABOUT THIS?

would this setup work? Bio and mech filters, for freshwater tank and high rated ext pump..

Anybody have any suggestions?

Well for somewhat planted tank i think a sump would most likely not be the way to go for simple reason of gas exchange.

Thanks Jarred thats what i thought. I have never run a sump, but i hear alot about them aerating the water....not what you want for plants.

Can you go in depth about this a little more? This is my first time ever hearing this. Which kind of makes sense because I've been heavily aerating my main tank by using a power head at the surface. Most of the stuff does very well except the Water Sprite. which traps all of the micro bubbles until they form into a large enough one to push through to the surface.

If you run or plan on running co2 you will lose most of it through hang on back filters and sumps. When the water goes through one of these filters it agitates it and your co2 is lost. When you use a canister its a sealed system and you will lose little to none depending where the return is situated. On a tank with loads of plants you wont need extra aeration as the plants will produce the o2
