If you run or plan on running co2 you will lose most of it through hang on back filters and sumps. When the water goes through one of these filters it agitates it and your co2 is lost. When you use a canister its a sealed system and you will lose little to none depending where the return is situated. i have a planted 36gl bowfront. i use co2, t5's, and have plant substrate. im currently running a fluval 305 on it and its doin great. originally had a biowheel on it and well i noticed a big difference on the co2 and its affects after switching to the cannister. sumps are easy but again loss of co2..
