Help diagnosing cause of death :(

sorry for your loss, maybe too much stress?

I didn't see her getting bullied by anyone in the tank. The oscars and sunfish stick to their quarrel, the bass stays out of everyone's way, the eel stays to his tube, the congicus to their cave, and the rest have their respective swords. All in all the bottom dwellers are/were very peaceful with each other. The only aggression is fighting over nesting between the sunfish and the oscars, and they each have have their own nests on their own sides, so aggression was basically gill flaring and that's it

Have you test water perimeters??

there was no point to. by the time I found her, she'd clearly been dead at least a couple hours so they were going to be off. Kinda like the story of the person bringing the dead fish to the store and wanting them to test the water from the bag the dead fish is in.

Previous tests have always shown ph between 7.2-7.6, ammonia/nitrite 0, and nitrate between 40-120 depending on when i test in my water change cycle. I've been letting the water sprite grow out more though to help keep nitrates down between water changes.

40-120 ppm? Sounds high.. Not sure if that would cause anything. I'm not sure why she'd drown if she wasn't stuck either, I was just throwing an idea out. I'm not really sure

Won't ever be sure. Many variables. Sorry for the loss. Espcially a wc teugelsi!
