I was just saying put the whole set up in a kiddie pool in case of overflow if you don't want to leave 10g of room in the 55g. This way, in case of a power failure the water will spill into the kiddie pool and not onto your floor.
any1 know how many minnows i can put in the 55(will not be filled the whole way so maybe 45 gallons of water) with a 15 gallon barrel full of bio media... how many minnows should i start with and how often should i add more minnows?
I'd fishless cycle it first...establish you filter completely then you could easily stock 100-150 1-2" rosie minnows...smokin;2636512; said:
When the ammonia and nitrite drop to zero. Nitrate should also start to show up on tests. You will need to add some sort of small ammonia source to start with. I usually use a small amount of fish for an ammonia source, because I can't find pure ammonia. Fishless is defenitly better though.
