I am out of town for 2 1/2 months and my wife has reluctantly agreed to change the water in my four tanks but only every 2 weeks. I was thinking about asking her to use Tetra Easy Balance to help with the reduced maintenance .... http://www.tetra-fish.com/Products/discontinued/easybalance-aquarium-water-treatment.aspx . I have never used it before, will it help or hurt ?

From the description on that site, it would reduce the need for water changes. The purpose of a water change is to reduce nitrates, and that has no affect on them. You want to look into something like a nitrate reactor, or a nitrate absorbing pad.
