Stripping an egg bound fish is a last resort as it often results in the rupture of the ovaries and subsequent fatal infections. Before you do this try placing her in a quarantine tank, slightly warmer than normal and add 1 tablespoon epsom salt per 10 gallons of water. treat for up to 10 days. This sometimes works.

ok, sounds like i'll give this a go. what are we trying to accomplish with this treatment? is this gonna ease the laying, or is this gonna somehow treat her to absorb the eggs?

i do agree with the stripping, that sounds quite painful if i somehow screw up, and rupture her internals.

I know that it eases passing of eggs and have read from several sources that it also helps egg absorbtion. In addition egg binding sometimes causes intestinal swelling causing additional blockages which cause more swelling. The epsom asalt reduces the swelling and helps clear the blockages.
