My 180g turned real cloudy the last few days. I've done 3 water changes up to 60gal. 3 days in a row. It actually got worse last nite. I cleaned the sump, and filter- FX5. Any thoughts??

yes. Last nite.I washed theFX5 and media, and hosed out the sump.

The water was 74 and climbing. I had to replace a 300watt heater monday. I do not have the perm. as I am at work now. Im also experiencing computer problems, sorry about the delay.

Ok. I will crank the heaters tonite.. Thank you

I would hold off on feedings for a couple of days.

Need to know water params (ammonia, nitrite, nitrates) before making recommendations. Did you clean the filters because of the cloudy water? Or the cloudy water appeared after the filters were cleaned?

I cleaned them after it clouded up. It is better today. As far as the old man chopping ice, It has to do with an old Ice fishing joke. Thanks for the input Guys..

Cranking the heaters will not solve your cloudy water issue(it is not ich). Cleaning out filter/sump probably won't help; but vaccum your tank will. Do a general clean up and vaccum the gravel. Get rid of all the uneaten food and any potential dead fish...

Sounds like you did a little too much of everything......too much water being changed, media being cleaned, bringing water up to temp. Ive had them in the past and instinct says "Clean more, change more" but ironically the more you do the worse it seems to get. Assuming your tank is "clean" should be fine not changing any water or cleaning media for a bit and and letting your tank balance itself.

In the future, you may want to alternate cleaning the sump and fx5 on alternating months. Just monitor for awhile and make sure water parameters are good and fish are showing no signs of stress.
