I have a 5" green severum that was in with my oscar till he went ballistic on him. Nows hes in a smaller tank but it looks like his slimecoat is screwed up hes still eating but his fins are clamped hes in with a syndontis euruptis and a lima can i add some salt ive already bumped up the heat

I wouldn't put salt in with either the synodontis or lima cat. both of those are more sensitive to salt than the sev - catfish in general are. so it's the sev that's beat up, right?

i would agree to use melafix. if possible, i'd put him by himself. wherever he is, i'd make sure that the water is really clean.

good luck,
windsurfer

forgot to say that the clean water is to make sure he doesn't get any infections since his slime coat is compromised. you want to watch his skin and fins closely for bacterial or fungal incections.

Go get some stresscoat and use that. No need in adding Melafix unless there are visible wounds/missing scales. Your eupterus will be fine with salt (I have always added up to 2tbs per gallon to my pploypterus/syno tank with no ill results). I am not sure about salt tolerance of lima so if you could move him that would be great. And ys, keep up with friquest waterchanges. Your severum should be fine unless some sort of a scondary infection sets in

Awesome guys dripping my lima now to put in the 55 with the baby aro which has almost absorbed his sac and is tearing frozen bllodworms and brine shrimp up . other than looking like his slimecoats gone and clamped fins hes fine , swimming around and eating well ill hope for the best Thanks for the replies
